The Saga is finally over!
For the last three months I have been battling with the evil phone company (optus) to have my land line and inernet connected. I called on the 20th of september, I was told "no problem everything will be connected in ten working days" that’s when it started.
I waited the ten days, no word from optus so I called them. They gave me the usual run around "oh you’ve been put through to the wrong department let me just transfer you" after eight transfers and 30 minutes on hold a customer service representative takes my call, away from the mind numbing hold music. So I explain the situation, she says "well I cant seem to find your order in the system let me just put you on hold for a moment and I’ll find out whats happening here" so another 15 minutes on hold. She comes back and says "ok there has been a small problem with your phone line but we are confident it will be resolved by Monday (it was Wednesday) and if there are going to be any further delays we will let you know.
So with confidence in my service provider I hung up the phone and waited once again. Monday came and went and still nothing, no phone call, no email, NOTHING! so I called again maybe 8 more times. With each phone call the explainations became more elaborate and harder to believe. First they told me "when we picked your phone number out of our system it was from an old system and for some reason the numbers from our old system can’t be connected in your area" Thinking hmm that doesnt sound right I called Mat and he confirmed my suspisions that they were indeed full of shit. So the bullshit excuses go on and on…Then they tell me. "we are having technical difficulties with your phone line" (now usually this wouldn’t be hard to believe. However in a previous phone call I had told them that I had recieved several phone calls to my home phone from people looking for the previous tenant and I had told them maybe the problem is the previous tentant had not disconnected her phone service. So clearly there was no technical problem with the line!)
This went on for months untill finally I lost it! i’ll filter the profantity but basically I told the evil phone company (Optus) I would take my buisness else where (telstra). I thought ok lets start again with telstra it will all be fixed and over and done with soon. But I was wrong! they didnt have the services I wanted and their prices were higher and I was about to scream! So I had no choice but to return to OPTUS. Again I called the evil fucks this time they organised everything correctly and it was all over within three weeks…finally on the 1st of December it was all connected, nearly three months after my first phone call. Hoorah and jubilation the saga was finally over.
But honestly thats not the point. Why did it take three months to get a land line and internet connection? It was insane the customer service I recieved was poor at best and I was constantly told the wrong information and was never kept up to date with what was happening. Optus is not a service provider I would recommend…Although in the end their all the same!
